Position Summary :

If so, consider joining the Narragansett Bay Commission’s Engineering and Construction Department as a Principal Environmental Engineer, where you will help lead the planning and design of projects aimed at improving wastewater facilities and infrastructure.

Our Engineering and Construction Division works across all facets of the Narragansett Bay Commission. Your role will be crucial in ensuring our projects not only meet technical standards but create reliable and sustainable long-term environmental solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Project Management : Oversee and coordinate consultant activities to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Design and Planning : Lead the planning, design, and management of both new construction and rehabilitation projects for wastewater infrastructure.
  • Technical Expertise : Provide expert technical guidance on wastewater collection, pumping, and treatment projects.
  • Regulatory Compliance : Prepare and submit applications for regulatory permits, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Sustainability Initiatives : Support the start-up and commissioning of new or renovated facilities with a focus on minimizing environmental impact.
  • Interdepartmental Support : Collaborate with other departments to provide technical advice and support for environmental initiatives.
  • Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on project status.

Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor of Sciences degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or equivalent) required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience : Demonstrated experience with a proven track record of successful work in the field of wastewater engineering.
  • Licenses : Professional Engineer license issued by the State of Rhode Island.
  • Skills : Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, GIS, and database management.
  • Knowledge : In-depth understanding of wastewater facility operations and environmental regulations.
