EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT EDUCATION

Registered Behavior Technician (9-month position)

RANGE OF PAY : $26,451.60 - $28,767.76 / yr.

While in effect, additional compensation from the Millage initiative will be awarded annually. For the 2024-25 school year, the amount for this position is $5,473 and will be prorated from July 1, 2024.)

QUALIFICATIONS :

1) A high school diploma or its equivalent and Two (2) years of study at an accredited postsecondary institution; or an associate's degree or higher; or have passed a rigorous examination demonstrating knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics and

2) Complete at least 40 hours of RBT training and

3) Pass the RBT Competency Assessment and

4) Pass the RBT Examination.

5) Be at least 18 years old.

6) Type at prescribed rate of speed.

7) Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • 1) Provide direct student care in one-on-one and group settings.
  • 2) Assist students with personal hygiene and / or grooming if required.
  • 3) Maintain a clean and orderly environment for students.
  • 4) Assist in maintaining positive relationships between the school and parents using effective, positive interpersonal skills.
  • 5) Communicate with students, parents, and school staff regarding student progress.
  • 6) Contact parents at the direction of BCBA, BCaBA or administration.
  • 7) Assist the BCBA and BCaBA with behavior reduction assessments and skills acquisition.
  • 8) Assist the BCBA and BCaBA with planning and organizing appropriate instruction using established guidelines.
  • 9) Assist the BCBA and BCaBA with the preparation of student materials.
  • 10) Provide behavioral assistance and modeling as planned or coordinated by the BCBA, BCaBA or administrator.
  • 11) Follow the behavior reduction and behavioral skills acquisition protocols.
  • 12) Provide student supervision as required by the BCBA, BCaBA or administrator.
  • 13) Collect and record data based on student behavior.
  • 14) Utilize classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom environment.
  • 15) Assist the teacher in preparing student materials needed for the student's behavior plan.
  • 16) Assist the teacher in implementing positive behavior intervention plans.
  • 17) Assist the teacher in assessing student progress as directed.
  • 18) Participate in training programs and in-service.
  • 19) Participate in training and be certified in the county approved Professional Crisis Management (PCM) Program at Level 1 and Level 2.
  • 20) Acquire certification in First Aid / CPR.
  • 21) Operate instructional equipment effectively.
  • 22) Answer telephone, route calls and take messages as directed.
  • 23) Perform assigned clerical and bookkeeping duties.
  • 24) Compile required data and enter data into the computer.
  • 25) Establish and maintain records and files pertinent to assigned program.
  • 26) Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.

27) Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

VETERANS' PREFERENCE SHALL BE GIVEN TO ELIGIBLE VETERANS AND SPOUSES IN COMPLIANCE WITH FLORIDA AND FEDERAL APPLICABLE LAWS.

Salary : $26,452 - $28,768
