About the Role
NCIA is seeking a detail-driven and compassionate Client Benefits Coordinator to manage and maintain vital social benefits for individuals supported by our programs. This position acts as the Representative Payee with the Social Security Administration (SSA), ensuring clients receive and maintain access to benefits including Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, and other entitlements.
Your work will directly support the financial wellbeing of those we serve and contribute to the organization’s mission of enhancing lives through structured care and support.
Key Responsibilities
Representative Payee & SSA Coordination
- Serve as official Representative Payee for over 50 clients with the SSA
- Submit applications, track benefits, report earned wages, and complete annual SSA reporting
- Manage Medicare premiums, SSA communications, and follow-ups on discrepancies
- Coordinate returns of unspent funds upon client death or discharge
- Respond to audit inquiries and assist with SSA Representative Payee evaluations
Medicaid & Benefits Administration
- Prepare and submit redetermination paperwork for Medicaid Waiver and Community Medical Assistance
- Support client enrollment in Medicare Part D and private insurance plans
- Analyze medical bills and EOBs prior to approving payments for services
Account & Records Management
- Enroll clients in Maryland ABLE savings plans, irrevocable trusts, and burial policies
- Maintain thorough documentation including benefit letters, recertifications, and care plans
- Assist with HUD audits and ensure accurate benefit reporting
- Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to client benefits
Education and/or Experience: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business or human services is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of regulations and in experience serving in the capacity of a Representative Payee on behalf of the Social Security Administration for more than 50 clients
- Requires Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, Teams, and OneDrive
- Requires the ability to learn and utilize computer systems and software to perform position functions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good understanding of common fiscal procedures
- Excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Detail oriented with demonstrated ability to follow up on outstanding items
