Position Overview
The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and residential solar battery-storage projects. This role ensures all work meets NEC, OSHA, utility, and AHJ requirements while maintaining NEI’s high quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical & Solar Installation
• Install AC/DC electrical systems for solar PV and battery-storage projects (Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla Powerwall, FranklinWH, etc.).
• Run conduit (EMT/PVC), pull wire, terminate panels, disconnects, inverters, and service equipment.
• Install/commission switchgear, combiner panels, grounding systems, and BESS components.
• Read and interpret electrical and structural plans, single-line diagrams, and spec sheets.
• Perform system startup, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and service calls.
Safety & Compliance
• Ensure full compliance with NEC, California Electrical Code, and OSHA requirements.
• Maintain OSHA 30 and adhere to NEI’s Safety Manual and 300A reporting standards.
• Conduct job-site safety walks and enforce lock-out/tag-out procedures.
Quality Control
• Verify installations meet NEI workmanship standards and manufacturer requirements.
• Document daily progress, photos, and quality checks.
• Support inspections with AHJs, utilities, and third-party engineers.
Leadership & Coordination
• Provide direction to apprentices and helpers; ensure efficient work sequencing.
• Coordinate with Foreman, Project Managers, and other trades on-site.
• Communicate material needs, job-site issues, and schedule constraints proactively.

Required Qualifications
• Valid CA Journeyman Electrician Certification (General or Residential).
• Minimum 4 years electrical experience; solar PV experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read plans, SLDs, and run conduit to code-level quality.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with inverters, monitoring, and control systems.
• Comfortable with ladders, roofs, lifts, and construction environments.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with commercial/industrial solar (C&I), WAIRE compliance sites, or ground-mounts.
• Familiarity with QCells, Enphase, SolarEdge, FranklinWH, and Tesla.
• OSHA-30, CPR/First Aid, forklift/manlift certifications.
• Experience mentoring apprentices or managing small crews.
