We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Operational Medicine Instructor to join our team at the U.S. Department of State, Foreign Affairs Security Training Center (FASTC) in Blackstone, VA.
Job Summary:
The Operational Medicine Instructor will serve as an instructor and subject matter expert on operational medicine issues, presenting instruction through lectures, conferences, group discussions, and psychomotor exercises.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC): Deliver specialized training and instruction in TCCC utilizing current guidelines.
- Course Development: Develop course content, lesson plans, student manuals, and practical exercises.
- Curriculum Review: Maintain currency in tactical/operational medical issues by reviewing medical and open-source publications.
- Instructional Support: Liaise with the medical community and other educational organizations to ensure professional educational standards are maintained.
Requirements:
- Instructional Experience: Two or more years of instructional experience.
- Prior Military Service: Five to ten years of prior military service and experience or equivalent experience in the functional area field.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in an associated technical discipline or equivalent.
- Security Clearance: Must be a US citizen and possess or be able to obtain/maintain a SECRET security clearance.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position with typical days and hours of work from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend hours may be required as needed.
Travel may be necessary to other U.S. and foreign training sites, though it is not expected to exceed 25% of total work time.
