PURPOSE: Clinical support for the nursing staff, directions/ support to visitors, family members and residents.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: Current NAI listing (NC) or CNA (SC). Good mental and physical health verified by a health screen per facility policy. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medical records preferred but is not a necessity.
WORKING HOURS: Hours of work are 8 to 80 hours per pay period plus or minus as business needs and assigned by the Supervisor or Staffing Coordinator.

DUTIES:
1. MUST MAINTAIN COMPLETE CONFIDENTIALITY OF RESIDENT/ FACILITY INFORMATION, MEDICAL RECORDS, FAMILY INFORMATION.
2. Clock in and out at designated time, clock in and out when leaving the facility for any reason other than facility business.
3. Report to the neighborhoods in proper attire and with name tag.
4. Fill in resident information (i.e., name) on pages of clinical record as needed.
5. When indicated, answers phones and directs calls.
6. May make phone calls to other departments or neighborhoods within the facility as indicated and assists residents with making or receiving phone calls.
7. May assist with paperwork for resident admission to facility, transfer from facility, physician appointments, leaves of absence from facility, death forms, room changes, etc., new dietary orders, lab work sheets as assigned.
8. Performs NAI (NC) or CNA (SC) duties as assigned, and as needed.
9. May make appointments and arrange transportation for residents.
10. May stock residents closets with briefs.
11. Routine filing of physician orders, lab reports, and diet slips, etc. in resident charts on a regular basis.
12. May close out resident records on discharge from the facility and give to medical records.
13. May assist with monitoring of lab schedule, lab requisitions and timely return of lab reports.
14. May flag physician orders, lab reports, forms, etc. for physician signature as assigned.
15. May assist with checking and changing out of oxygen tanks as assigned.
16. Assist with answering of resident call lights.
17. Directs visitors and family members to other areas of the facility, staff offices, etc. as indicated.
18. May offer between meal nourishments or snacks, put out ice as directed by Charge Nurse and may assist residents with meals.
19. May assist with up-dating of daily assignments sheets, resident care instructions, resident between meal nourishment record and make copies as needed.
20. May thin charts for unit, double check charts for allergies, diets, physician orders and signatures.
21. Readily assists with preparing and maintaining packets for resident admission, transfer, and discharge.
22. Distributes discharge or transfer slips to appropriate areas.
23. Keeps nurse stations and bulletin boards in order.
24. May assist with keeping residents names on room doors and closets neat and updated as needed.
25. Demonstrate competency using current clinical software system.
