These positions are located at the National Mall and Memorial Parks in the Division of Facility Management. The primary purpose of the position is to perform the operation, installation repair and preventative maintenance of electrical systems consisting of overhead power lines and underground power system with transformers.

Responsibilities:
The major duties of the Electrician position include, but are not limited to the following:- Performs repairs, preventative maintenance and operational inspections and checks, to include repair, layout, installation, troubleshooting, tracing, locating defects, and modifications on all new and existing electrical systems park-wide in accordance with CFR 19910.331-5 and the National Electric Code (NEC).
- Installing and troubleshooting meters, load centers, circuit breakers, equipment controls, lighting, power outlets, disconnects, solenoids, relays and lighting fixtures and HVAC equipment, accurately bending and install EMT, rigid flex and PVC conduits.
- Appropriately apply the NEC to projects in order to select the correct materials and methods for an installation or repair.
- Install, maintain and repair electric motors, pumps, control wiring, relays and starters, particularly those units required for sewer treatment plant operation, fountain water systems and HVAC systems. Ensures continuity, tests and balances electrical loads, locates distribution panels, boxes, circuits, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices.
- Works from plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, repair manuals and related codes: OSHA, National Electric Code, Uniform Building Code, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Code and NFPA 70A Electrical Code for one- and two-story dwellings, and park and manufacturers standards of preventative maintenance.
- Occasionally works in transformer vaults up to 13,000-volt capacity. Ties into 480-volt side of the 13K transformers to provide service to park equipment and machinery.
- Maintains complex specialty lighting systems that include halogen, high pressure sodium and incandescent dimmer controlled lights.
