SUMMARY
Analysis, design, specification, implementation, testing, and support of processes and their supporting information tools within the Engineering department. Reports to the Manager, Engineering. Works with system users, Engineering supervision and management, ISD personnel, members of the TIS group, and customers in other departments at various levels of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES Participates with user groups in formulating process plans. Analyses user and process information requirements and develops designs which meet those requirements where cost justified. Develops process and information system functional specifications. Implements approved information tools using company-supplied desktop software tools. Develops and executes system test plans. Develops process and users information system documentation. Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field and two (2) years experience, or (4) years directly applicable experience. Demands a working knowledge of engineering’s product and processes, and working knowledge of one or more specific process areas supported. Demands an understanding of NASSCO’s process analysis and documentation tools. Demands proficiency with NASSCO’s desktop information tools and a good understanding of the purpose and operation of NASSCO’s information systems used within Engineering. Must be able to analyze and understand engineering processes, the information flow within those processes, and identify potential improvement areas. Must be able to communicate technical material effectively both verbally and in writing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, or controls, and to talk and hear. Must be physically able to walk to all yard locations, including aboard ships. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
