This is union position on the Schriever Space Force Base Dining Facility. As a union employee, you will receive vacation pay, sick leave, pension, health and welfare and other union benefits
You are Mission Essential Personnel and are required to be at your shift even in adverse weather conditions.
The Food Service Worker performs a variety of tasks concerned with the preparation and serving of foods and beverages and maintaining the sanitation in the dining facility. Works under general supervision and follows prescribed steps after receiving initial instructions as to how to do the work.
Hourly rate: $20.00 per hour PLUS Health and Welfare benefits and an Annual Benefit Package from the Union
Role and Responsibilities - May include but is not limited to:
- Adhere to and demonstrates NRDCI core values, mission, code of conduct, and employee expectations in the performance of all aspects of this position.
- Understand and agree to being Mission Essential personnel on a Military base and must be able to arrive to work even in adverse weather conditions.
- Set up Food on serving lines and portion food for individual servings in accordance with instructions
- Replace Dishes and Wipe Tables-replace glassware, dishes and silverware and refill condiment containers. Wipe and wash tables and countertops
- Clean work area, utensils, and equipment, remove garbage, mop floors, walls, windows, and tables
- Remove dirty dishes, glasses, and silverware from serving counters. Mix washing solutions and operate electric dish washing machine and/or wash dishes, glassware, pots and pans and kitchen utensils by hand
- Make coffee in urns. Assist in the setup of serving lines
- Performs a wide variety of manual tasks in the kitchen or dining area of a food activity, which involves light to moderate physical effort and is done according to established procedures
- Maintain in a sanitary condition equipment and work areas, utensils, and tables
- Serve food to those in serving line, re-fill cold bars, salad bars, pastry cabinets, condiments, juice dispensers, and set up dining rooms
- Perform ware-washing, and keep pot and pan areas in order to prior to, during and after meals
- Assist in unloading supplies and moving items to the appropriate storage area.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Clean driving record – Must provide 3-year MVD report
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be able drive on and off base yourself. Drop offs not allowed due to high security protocols of Schriever SFB
- Satisfactory government background check and ability to qualify for ongoing on-base pass & identification requirements
- One year working experience in a commercial dining facility with equipment and operations similar to the proposed project, preferably in a Government or Government-contracting environment
- High School graduate or equivalent
- ServSafe Food Handlers Certification
- Able to speak, read, write, and understand English, to ensure effective communication
