Job Family Overview:

Within the Administration funtion, the Information Technology family is responsible for the design, development, implementation and support of Information Technology (IT)  solutions and services that are enabled through processes, data and technology to support business needs.

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Plant Senior Support Analyst position is responsible for the server and network environment at NatureWorks.  This position’s primary responsibilities are to the global network, email, network drives, data backups and is ultimately responsible for the user and server environments.  This position will assist with helpdesk support, on a limited basis, as needed.  The Network Administrator plays an active role on the Information Technology team.

 

The Plant Senior Support Analyst is responsible for supporting the Information Technology team in achieving the mission, vision and goals of the organization.

 

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Server Administration (40%)

  • Responsible for performing day-to-day support and monitoring of servers to ensure that hardware is functional, storage is within limits, updates including patches are installed and up to date, licenses are compliant and servers are rebooted on a regular basis
  • Ensures data stored on network drives is within limits, secure, backed up and maintains a high uptime
  • Ensures data is backed up regularly, stored offsite and software/hardware solutions and are visited and upgraded on a regular basis
  • Responsible for ensuring the user environment (Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.) is stable, secure and maintains a high level of availability.
  • Partners with Support Analysts and other IT staff to ensure servers across the organization maintain the same level of uptime and support as the plant systems
  • Along with other IT members will be jointly responsible for the telephone and fax network; ensures that all equipment is maintained, up to date, stable, secure and maintains a high level of uptime; works with 3rd party support to troubleshoot issues and will regularly recommend potential hardware upgrades and additional products
  • Ensures the backup environment is functional, within data size restrictions, up to date and will regularly make recommendations for improvements & upgrades
  • Collaborates with others in IT, and 3rd parties, to ensure endpoint protection solutions are up to date, stable, secure, and running on a regular basis; regularly advises on updates and improvements
  • Point of contact and responsible for managing vulnerabilities across all systems within the plant while collaborating with others in IT to ensure vulnerabilities are managed across the rest of the organization
  • Provides regular reports to the IT Director on the status of servers, any problem areas and any desired improvements

 

Network Administration (25%)

  • Responsible for performing day-to-day monitoring of switches, routers, firewalls and any other network components within the plant to ensure that the network is stable, redundant, secure and working efficiently; will perform troubleshooting and works with 3rd parties and others within global IT staff to resolve any network issues in a timely manner
  • Recommends when equipment needs to be purchased for the network; assists in putting together quotes, purchasing equipment, configuring equipment and performing installations
  • Assists in performing quarterly security analysis of the network, report any vulnerabilities to the IT Director and works to continuously improve the security of the NatureWorks network; works with 3rd parties on security audits and performs recommended improvements from the audit
  • Ensures the remote VPN solution is stable, secure, up to date, and monitored regularly; gives advice on potential improvements and ensures remote connectivity has a high level of uptime

 

Helpdesk Support (10%)

  • Assists with the support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, mobile device, office phone, printer and/or network issues as needed
  • Assists with monitoring the support e-mail inbox, answering the IT support line, monitoring support voicemail, instant messaging and walk-up traffic as needed
  • Participates in 24-hour IT support rotation, addressing urgent and after hours issues

 

Pi/D3 Support (10%)

  • Responsible for the Pi and D3 environment ensuring its stability, security and usability
  • Advises on hardware improvements
  • Assists to ensure the environments are stable, secure and maintain full uptime
  • Troubleshoots issues and assists wherever necessary
  • Backup IT staff in other plants as needed providing guidance and support

 

Projects (10%)

  • Collaborates with the IT Director to identify projects, and serve as an advisor for IT related projects
  • Assists as needed with multiple projects throughout the year across the organization

                                                              

Environmental, Health & Safety Leadership (5%)

  • Operates safely within NatureWorks policies, procedures and governmental regulations and fully participates in and champions NatureWorks Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Programs
  • Ensures the EH&S Programs are being followed and provides a safe working environment to our employees and customers 
  • Accountable for building a strong safety culture and actively pursues it on a daily basis; identifies unsafe behaviors and conditions and intervenes to mitigate incidents

 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Computer Science or related field
  • 10 years of corporate IT support experience
  • 5 years as a network and server administrator
  • Strong Understanding of Microsoft operating systems (both client and server versions, with a higher focus on server), Microsoft Exchange, server hardware, server environments, network components (specifically switches, routers, firewalls), Active Directory, network security, server backups, endpoint protection, mobile devices (Android, iPhone), Microsoft applications, Pi/D3, a helpdesk environment and working as a member of an IT support team

 

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in Management of Information Systems, Computer Science or related field
  • 5-10 years of network and server administrator experience
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft operating systems (both client and server versions, with a higher focus on server), Microsoft Exchange, server hardware, server environments, network components (specifically switches, routers, firewalls), Active Directory, network security, server backups, endpoint protection, mobile devices (Android, iPhone), Microsoft applications Pi/D3, a helpdesk environment and working as a member of an IT support team

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • This position works in an office environment
  • Regular business hours; some after-hours work will be required on evenings and weekends
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Requires use of office equipment such as computers, fax machines, telephones, and copiers
  • Required sitting and computer-related activities for extended periods of time
  • Position may be physically demanding, requiring the ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, stoop and crawl.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and haul up to 50 pounds; follows Company safety and ergonomic guidelines to avoid injury
