What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Technician position at Navajo Tribal Utility Authority?
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED Certificate.
Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Computer Engineering or a Related Field.
2 - 3 years experience in computer equipment, software installation/maintenance.
Knowledge of PC configurations and upgrading.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Project & Power BI).
Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle record review).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Performs preliminary to extensive, comprehensive analysis on various desktop/laptop computer configurations for reported problems using technical software and precision tools and completes required repairs.
Receives user service requests for hardware and/or software and schedule site visits, if necessary, based on priority and end-user requirements.
Coordinates equipment repairs using means necessary, including contacting and consulting outside companies, minimizing downtime and cost.
Maintains records of service requests, installation, preventive maintenance, repairs, replacement and retirement of all computer and computer communication equipment.
Determines and installs most reliable and efficient local and wide area network cabling with associated interfaces following standard cabling practices.
Analyzes request for upgrades of computer equipment, determines specifications, researches all available technologies and performs installation of upgrades.
Schedules and performs routine preventive maintenance on desktop/laptop equipment, printers and computer peripheral equipment.
Assists in development of standards for desktop computers, printers and communications equipment and provides recommendations through research and emerging technologies on such equipment.
Installs all new desktop equipment, hardware and software, by developing installation, replacement and transfer schedules; performs necessary documentation of such activity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have strong work ethics, ability to work under pressure, exercise sound judgment in area of responsibility, strong communication skills, positive attitude, and a self-starter.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
