About the Opportunity:
We are currently partnering with a well-established public accounting firm that is looking to hire a skilled Tax Senior Associate. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced tax professional with 2-4 years of experience, particularly someone who is familiar with M-1 adjustments, state returns, and book-to-tax adjustments. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with clients across various industries and support a broad range of tax compliance, planning, and consulting services.

Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance & Preparation:
- Prepare and review corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns, with a strong emphasis on M-1 adjustments and state returns.
- Prepare book-to-tax adjustments, ensuring accurate reconciliations between financial accounting income and taxable income.
- Manage and oversee the tax filing process for clients, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and deadlines.
- Review and prepare tax provisions, estimates, and projections.
- Tax Planning & Consulting:
- Assist clients with tax planning strategies, including proactive tax savings opportunities and compliance with the latest tax regulations.
- Support clients on complex transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring, by providing tax consulting and advice.
- Research and resolve technical tax issues and interpret tax laws, regulations, and court rulings to offer well-rounded guidance.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering insight on tax-related matters and serving as a point of contact for inquiries.
- Communicate effectively with clients about tax strategies, changes in tax law, and potential areas of concern or opportunity.
- Manage client expectations and ensure excellent client service.
- Supervision & Mentorship:
- Supervise and mentor junior associates, guiding them through tax compliance tasks and reviewing their work.
- Provide feedback and training to help develop the technical skills of junior staff and assist in their professional growth.
- Research & Documentation:
- Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues and ensure all workpapers and documentation are complete and well-supported.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax law changes, specifically in areas impacting book-to-tax adjustments and state tax compliance.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s in Taxation is a plus).
- 2-4 years of experience in tax compliance and/or tax advisory, with a focus on M-1 adjustments, state returns, and book-to-tax adjustments.
- CPA certification (or in progress) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws, with specific experience handling M-1 adjustments and book-to-tax adjustments.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing state tax returns and reconciling book income to taxable income.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., Thomson Reuters, ProSystem fx, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
