- Duties and Responsibilities:**
- Diagnose and identify malfunctions in refrigeration systems and equipment.
- Disassemble, repair, replace, and adjust thermostats, pressure switches, humidistats, relays, and other automatic control devices.
- Conduct repairs on compressors and related components.
- Service and repair evaporators, condensers, and receivers.
- Repack valves, replace electric motors, belts, and pulleys.
- Lubricate moving parts, clean or replace filters, bleed systems, and recharge refrigerants.
- Test for leaks and assess load conditions, and carry out modifications or fabrications of parts as required.
- Perform a full range of tasks related to the installation, repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of industrial and domestic refrigeration equipment, including reach-in and walk-in refrigerators, split HVAC systems, cold storage and cold room equipment, freezers, water coolers, dehumidifiers, and air conditioning units.
- Physical Requirements:**
- Frequently lift and set up parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Utilize hoists, holders, and pulleys when removing heavy units such as large compressors, condensers, and chillers.
- Perform repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms in challenging positions.
- Engage in physical activities including stooping, stretching, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Working Conditions:**
- Work is conducted primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks, often in cramped and awkward spaces.
- Conditions can be dirty and greasy, with exposure to variable temperatures in cold storage environments.
- Employees are subject to potential injuries including cuts, bruises, burns, and electrical shock.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- General Experience** One year of experience demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to perform a comprehensive range of tasks related to the installation and repair of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Substitution of Education for Experience** One year of high school education may be considered as a substitute for three months of general experience, up to a High School Diploma or GED, equating to one year of general experience.
- Specialized Experience** Five years of experience that has equipped the individual with the knowledge and skills to undertake a full range of activities concerning the installation, repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of both industrial and domestic refrigeration systems. This includes expertise in installing split HVAC systems, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, prefabricated cold storage boxes, as well as handling related equipment such as water coolers, dehumidifiers, and air-conditioning units. Current Universal Technician Certification is required.
