Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.

Duties
- Performs rescue work, promptly renders CPR or emergency first aid and calls for medical assistance as necessary
- Supervises swimmers for safety and crowd control
- Enforces safety and pool regulations
- Promptly reports safety hazards to supervisor
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the buildings and grounds in the pool area
- Responsible for testing chemical levels
- Provides instruction to youth and adults in incremental swim lessons/lifeguarding/CPR courses
- May assist with scheduled pool parties, after hours of operation or with base wide special events
- Schedule includes evenings and weekends
- Other duties as assigned

- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation
- Must be knowledgeable of emergency water safety procedures
- Performs housekeeping tasks for proper standards of cleanliness, free from hazards, sanitation and appearance of pool and related facilities
- Must pass annual swim test demonstrating ability to perform the work
- Ability to perform the full range of lifeguarding duties
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Must possess a valid lifeguarding certification from a recognized agency or obtain it within 30 days of hire
- Must be able to pass a 250 yard timed swim test
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing
