What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retirement Plan Administrator II position at NBT Bank?

Pay Range: $73,536.00 - $98,010.00

Responsible for the administration of complex retirement benefit plans and trust accounts. Advises clients concerning administration of their accounts. Prepares and submits required government reports. Keeps informed on new developments, policies and laws concerning retirement plan benefits, planning and administration. Participates in the development of new business from existing or prospective customers.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience
  • 5-7 years experience in a Financial Services industry CRSP Certification

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient PC skills with experience in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of various retirement plan vehicles
  • Knowledge of various investment vehicles
  • Ability to develop and deliver quality business proposals

Unique Job Characteristics and Requirements:

Ability to begin CRSP certification program within 18 months of date of hire, if not certified on date of hire

Tasks Performed:

  • 35% Perform all administration duties required for effective service delivery for assigned plans.
  • 15% Analyze and interpret more complex documents including all IRA documents, standardized and non standardized prototype defined contribution documents, individually designed plan documents and trust agreements.
  • 15% Initiate, follow and complete EPIC conversion package to successfully convert new daily valued 401k plans to NBT’s platform.
  • 15% Participate in new business development.
  • 15% Remain current on mutual fund offerings and QMR due diligence process. Conduct effective participant education and enrollment meetings.
  • 5% Other duties as assigned.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and/or external customers
  • Stationary 75% of time or greater
  • Move Objects to Maximum 10 lbs
