Description Of Work
Salary Range: $37,782.00 - $66,120.00
This is a position at Piedmont Correctional Institution located in Salisbury, N.C. (Rowan County), which is a Medium male prison facility housing 800 inmates.
Work in this class involves first-line supervision to Correctional Officer II’s in medium-custody facilities or institutions, increasing the custody and security coverage. Positions assign lower-level custody staff to a particular area or post. Employees oversee officer activities and performance and ensure that the custody, security and welfare of inmates is maintained. Employees arrange work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implement operational procedures and ensure rules and regulations are followed according to policy. Positions may serve as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC). Positions report directly to a Correctional Lieutenant II and/or the Correctional Assistant Superintendent. At this level, employees may supervise inmates in restrictive housing.
Knowledge Skills And Abilities/Management Preferences
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC08. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
Minimum Education And Experience
