Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients
- Take and record vital signs of patients
- Prepare treatment rooms for procedures and maintain cleanliness and sterility
- Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
- Take dental radiographs (x-rays) and process them for the dentist's review
- Perform dental receptionist duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and handling billing inquiries
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using electronic health record systems such as Dentrix
- Follow strict aseptic techniques to prevent the spread of infection
- Conduct patient assessments and provide education on oral hygiene practices
- Assist with inventory management and ordering dental supplies
- Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures
Experience:
- A minimum experience of 2 years as a dental assistant
- Familiarity with dental coding and procedures
- Proficient in using electronic health record systems, such as Dentrix, to manage patient information and documentation
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients of all ages, including children, and make them feel comfortable during dental procedures
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control protocols
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively interact with patients of all ages
- Knowledge of terminology related to dentistry
