Payroll Supervisor

We have an opening for a Payroll Supervisor who will be responsible for administering the payroll processing for the Harnish Group Inc. and its member companies operating our multi-state payrolls paying nearly 1,200 employees on a bi-weekly and semi-monthly basis. The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Essential Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service to all employees and departments located in different time zones.
• Manage timely & accurate payroll processing and time sensitive terminations; assist and support employees with general payroll matters. Ensure employees are paid on the designated payday the appropriate gross and net amounts in compliance with federal and state laws and company policies.
• Manage internal and external check transactions, special payments and earnings.
• Reconcile employee accrual balances and make corrections as necessary.
• Audit relocation reimbursements for taxable expenses.
• Review preview payroll reports - verify data entry; verify expenses & bonuses balance to register.
• Research and resolve all payroll errors prior to submitting final payroll; submit payroll for preview.
• Perform post-payroll tasks and reconciliations.
• Research and apply updates to federal, state, and local payroll and tax laws as they apply.
• Properly account for payroll transactions in the general ledger.
• Manage and lead direct reports who are responsible for garnishments, government mandated deductions, expense reimbursement, employee accounts for tool purchases, status changes for new hires, promotions, transfers, raises and terminations transactions.
• Maintain a high degree of cooperation/coordination with Human Resources and other Accounting areas. Ensure Controller is informed of accomplishments and challenges.

Personal Attributes, Experience, and Education:

• Must possess current payroll experience with a thorough knowledge of U.S. payroll tax laws.
• Preferred payroll and supervisory experience of 6 years or more. A Certified Payroll Professional Certification (CPP) is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of Ultimate Software (UKG) preferred or similar payroll processing software systems.
• Demonstrate accounting and General Ledger knowledge. Intermediate to advanced Excel.
• Proven excellent customer service skills and work ethic.
• Leadership skills for working with employees at all levels; manage and mentor the Payroll team.
• Self-directed, independent and a team player with high attention to detail and problem solving skills.

Salary : $90,500 - $110,700
