What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Designer position at NCCER?

Description

 

Major Duties:  

  1. Evaluate and enhance instructional materials using current instructional design standards and criteria 
  2. Evaluate training content based on learning outcomes to ensure alignment 
  3. Revise learning objectives and performance tasks as needed 
  4. Collaborate with technical writers, project managers and SMEs to identify training needs and develop effective learning solutions 
  5. Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and knowledge transfer? 
  6. Construct criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop innovative assessment tools 
  7. Work closely with virtual learning manager and publishing partner to evaluate e-learning approach and offer recommendations 
  8. Ensure online learning tools support instructional goals 
  9. Collaborate with test development manager and psychometrician to determine effectiveness of exam items based on instructional design standards and goals 
  10. Review new and existing module exam questions and format to determine effectiveness 
  11. Engage in user-testing sessions and ensure feedback is recorded, assessed, and applied. 
  12. Maintain project documentation and course folders 
  13. Other duties as assigned; as this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee 

Requirements

 

  • BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar 
  • Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology for a minimum of 3 years 
  • In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models, including online and print applications 
  • Strong lesson and curriculum planning skills 
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts 
  • Experience with simulation and 3D training environments 
  • Strong background in UX design and storyboarding 
  • Experience with course development software and at least one Learning Management System? 
  • Excited, passionate, proactive and self-motivated with an enthusiasm for learning 
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Exceptional research and time management skills
