Location:    Neah Bay School

Salary:      Depends on Experience – Based on Certificated Salary Scale

Qualifications:                     

  1. Valid degree from an accredited college or university
  2. Current Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsements in Special Education 
  3. Have or can obtain clearance from Washington State Patrol and FBI background check
  4. Ability to create Specially Designed instruction aligned with state standards for students in grades K-12         

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Training and experience in working with students with disabilities in grade K-12
  2. Additional teaching endorsements, ie: ELL, Elementary Ed, Secondary Math, etc.
  3. Experience working with students with a wide range of qualifying disabilities: SLD, OHI, EBD, ASD, DD, ID, etc. 
  4. Experience in conducting FBAs and writing BIPs based on student-generated data.

Knowledge and Abilities: 

  1. Strong background in Inclusionary practices, Universal Design for Instruction and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. 
  2. Knowledge to plan for and assist general education teacher with students with modifications, accommodations, and specially designed instructional
  3. Knowledge of education regulations and laws including IDEA, ADA, RCW and WACs governing both general and special education
  4. Demonstrate effective collaborative communication skills, both verbal and written, and work effectively with students, parents and fellow educators.

Essential Job Functions:    

 

  1. Develop individual educational plans (IEPs) and plan a course of study that meets the individual student’s needs and educational goals
  2. Collect student data consistent with MTSS practices
  3. Develop and maintain a classroom environment that is flexible to meet the needs of all students served, grade K-12
  4. Implement instructional programs that provide appropriate instruction to children with disabilities.
  5. Collaborate with teachers, staff and parents about needs and services for students with disabilities to identify effective strategies, craft IEPs and provide SDI
  6. Support students to participate as independently as possible in the least restrictive environment, including by providing services in the general education classroom
  7. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  8. Maintain timely manner, accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District Policy, and administrative regulations. 
  9. Attend staff meetings, department meetings and serve on building committees as required.
  10. Maintain a positive attitude, good work ethic, and demonstrate promptness in work arrival and in accomplishing all tasks.
  11. Perform other necessary and reasonable duties as assigned.
