Neighborhood Health Association, a network of community health centers serving the underserved of Toledo, is seeking a Training & Development Support Specialist to join our Quality team.
General Function:
Under the supervision of the Regulatory& Compliance Program Manager; assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of a training program for electronic health records (EHR), organizational systems, and workflows within the health centers. Analyzes health center workflow as it relates to the EHR, billing, reporting, and expected performance of a position or duties as outlined within a program training plan or direction from department/program leadership. Performs periodic audits of training follow through and compliance of implemented and standardized training/workflows. Assists departments and leadership in design and capability of training improvement, planning, implementation, and compliance around workflows and adherence to trainings. Researches and assists in the development of policy related to the EHR, systems, and the delivery of health care services.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing, implementing and providing EHR and healthcare information systems training for NHA health center staff and contracted staff. Monitors on-going training so as to ensure effective workflow including appropriate documentation within the EHR system so as to maximize revenue.
- Responsible for researching, interpreting, explaining and applying information from the EHR and healthcare information systems. Provides technical assistance and guidance to health center staff and contractors. Works with individuals within the health centers to establish and continually improve health center workflow related to the EHR and collection of billing and reporting data.
- Educates and trains staff on EHR templates, and established performance measures (i.e., Uniform Data Set (UDS), Meaningful Use (MU), and Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH).
- Works with staff to collect data for successful submission and payment of performance measures. Assists with compliance to budgetary and program requirements through the effective use of the EHR.
- Engages staff in participating in quality improvement activities related to EHR and healthcare information systems.
- Assists in developing a culture of quality regarding EHR and NHA and healthcare information systems.
- Works with all staff members within NHA (i.e., Information Technology (IT) and Finance) to ensure concerns/issues related to the EHR and healthcare information systems are resolved.
- Monitors and provides recommendations regarding quality improvement and utilization management processes.
- Assists with coordinating and/or performing audits, in organizational systems, and based on the review, develops and implements additional training in collaboration with department direction. Assists in conducting internal audits with organizational system to verify proper practices are being followed including billing and reporting activities.
- Must adhere to departmental standards to HIPPA and other privacy concerns.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts continued audits of the general use of EHR and NHA information systems.
- Assesses, develops and implements training for staff based on needs assessments, new computer applications, system updates, and other organizational goals and changes.
- Responsible for the training and guidance of new NHA systems.
- During a public health emergency, the employee may be required to perform duties similar to but not limited to those in the job description.
- Administrative duties such as adding to Shortlists, adding documents to EHR, & troubleshooting Allscripts/Veradigm usage.
- Other duties or special projects as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
· An associate degree in nursing or related field strongly preferred.
· Minimum of 3 years of clinical or medical records experience.
· CPR/First Aid Certified
· Six (6) months experience using an electronic health record system.
· Ability to operate a PC/laptop computer with the ability to effectively enter and retrieve information from a computer.
· Competencies in the areas of leadership and team development, coaching and mentoring, and situational assessment skills.
· An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral, written and persuasive skills.
· Multi-tasking capabilities.
· Ability to handle varying and at times high levels of stress.
· Must be able to work independently and with little or no supervision.
· Well organized, self motivated, and able to work well with others.
· Valid Driver License and state mandated adequate auto insurance coverage
· Reliable transportation due to extensive travel to clinic locations.
· Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity.

This position is Full Time hourly, Monday – Friday, no evenings, weekends or holidays.
