: Independently performs laboratory testing under the supervision of the laboratory manager to obtain accurate and timely results. Professionally interacts with patients and medical providers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Performs Hematology/Urinalysis/Chemistry laboratory testing independently and accurately
· Responsible for performing and documenting quality control and calibration of instrumentation.
· Performs and documents daily maintenance of laboratory equipment.
· Able to troubleshoot and resolve instrument problems.
· Reviews and approves lab results before being distributed to providers.
· Answers incoming calls in a professional manner.
· Able to navigate the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
JOB QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
· A Medical Technologist (MT) must have a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Medical Technology or related field and qualify as a Medical Technologist under New York state regulations. NYS License.
· A Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) must have an Associates in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in a medical laboratory technician program or related field and qualify as a MLT under New York state regulations. NYS License.
· Previous related experience and/or training preferred, but not required.
· Phlebotomy experience preferred, but not required.
