The Role: This is a role for a scientist at the bench. We’re seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate or Scientist with a strong background in molecular and cellular biology and cell culture to join our team and contribute to building our pipeline. The successful candidate will support the new target discovery efforts by cell lines, performing experiments, analyzing data, communicating the results with the team, and managing the laboratory’s inventory.
Major Responsibilities:
• Maintain cell lines including human cells (human neurons)
• qPCR, immunostaining, immunoblotting and quantitative plate-based assays.
• Execute gene over-expression and under-expression studies to support target validation and characterization efforts (cDNA overexpression, RNAi, CRISPR, etc.)
• Perform well-designed and executed cellular and molecular biology experiments to enable data-driven decisions on program progression.
• Manage the laboratory’s inventory and common supplies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support exploratory drug discovery and development in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Prepare presentations for lab meetings and other internal and occasionally external collaborations.
• Commit to helping the team achieve deliverables and meet aggressive timelines.
• Building relevant functional assays in human cell lines.
• Communicating and managing works with CROs
Requirements and Qualifications:
• B.S. or M.S. in a relevant field. Minimum 2 years of Industry experience is required.
• PhD would be a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is a must.
• Hands-on experience in cellular and biochemical techniques including standard molecular biology and protein biochemistry methods.
• Strong experience in tissue culture techniques (> 2 years)
• Experience with gene modulation techniques in cell-based studies (RNAi, CRISPR, cDNA overexpression, etc.)
• Familiarity with a broad range of RNA and protein analysis techniques: immunoblotting, ELISA, RT-PCR, etc.
• Extensive hands-on experience in cell culture of iPSCs and other lines is a requirement.
• Biomarker assay development is a requirement.
• Hands-on experience in designing, developing, performing, and analyzing in vitro and cell-based assays.
• Familiarization with data management and inventory management programs.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
• Having a flexible mind-set and understanding that the priorities might change frequently.
