Job Description: Technology Support Specialist
Location: Lake County
Overview
The primary function of this role is to serve as the Tier 1 technology support contact for faculty, staff, and students. The technician will be assigned a specific group of stakeholders to support. Additionally, this role will act as the direct contact for various needs as assigned by the Technology Support Facilitator and/or the District’s network and systems administration teams.
Certifications Desired
- CompTIA A
- Jamf Certified Associate (JAMF 100) and/or Microsoft 365 Identity and Services (MS-100)
- Google IT Support Professional Certificate and Google Workspace Certification
Primary Responsibilities/Duties
- Serve as the primary support technician for a designated group of District stakeholders. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage initial support requests through the ticketing system.
- Perform multi-layered troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve issues, considering both short- and long-term impacts.
- Communicate efforts, impacts, and next steps to the end-user.
- Complete support requests within the established time frame.
- Manage, maintain, inspect, and repair all classroom technology as needed to ensure it aligns with the district’s vision. This includes:
- Mobile Devices (iPads, Chromebooks, laptops, etc.)
- Computers (iMac, MacMini, various Window devices)
- Projectors
- Interactive Flat Panels
- Apple TVs and/or Chromecasts
- Sound S\stems
- Etc.
- Collaborate with the District’s instructional technology facilitators to implement and support the district’s technology plan. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Oversee the enrollment, retention, and removal of District assets according to district guidelines.
- Manage fleet updates.
- Configure and manage technology components to support district assessments.
- Communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with faculty, staff, students, and District guests.
- Support the District’s technology deployments. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Faculty & Staff devices
- 1:1 student devices
- Computer labs and common areas
- All classroom technology, including:
- Projectors / Flat Panel Displays
- Classroom Sound / Voice Amplification Systems
- Charging options
- Content Sharing (Apple TVs, Chromecasts, etc.)
- Engage with various District systems to complete Tier 1 support tasks. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Google Workspace / Google Apps / Google Classroom
- JAMF MDM / Microsoft InTune MDM
- Apple School Manager / Apple Classroom
- Seesaw
- Hapara
- Etc.
- Serve as the onsite technical contact for vendor representatives.
Secondary Responsibilities/Duties
- Provide basic hardware and software training to stakeholders with diverse levels of technology experience.
Occupational Requirements
- General Background Check.
- FBI fingerprint clearance required.
- TB test within 90 days of hire date.
- Physical exam within the last year of hire date.
- Mandatory district-wide compliance training, as assigned.
- Strong organizational, communication, and public relations skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Patient, persistent, and positive attitude.
- Excellent technical competencies in various areas, including writing and editing, organization, problem-solving, multi-tasking, statistical record keeping, and prioritizing.
Education/Vocational Preparation
- College Degree or equivocal certifications required; School District experience preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Moderate degree of physical stamina.
- Ability to move freely within various school settings.
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and bending.
- Frequent repetitive activities involving hands, arms, and legs for clerical work.
- Lifting devices weighing 40-80 lbs up to waist height.
- Lifting a minimum of 25 lbs above head height.
- Carrying up to 50 lbs for a distance of at least 10 yards (30 feet).
- Climbing ladders 6’-10’ high to complete work tasks.
- Exposure to the noise and activity of a school setting.
