Job Description:       Technology Support Specialist

Location:                    Lake County

 

Overview

The primary function of this role is to serve as the Tier 1 technology support contact for faculty, staff, and students. The technician will be assigned a specific group of stakeholders to support. Additionally, this role will act as the direct contact for various needs as assigned by the Technology Support Facilitator and/or the District’s network and systems administration teams.

 

Certifications Desired

  • CompTIA A
  • Jamf Certified Associate (JAMF 100) and/or Microsoft 365 Identity and Services (MS-100)
  • Google IT Support Professional Certificate and Google Workspace Certification

 

Primary Responsibilities/Duties

  1. Serve as the primary support technician for a designated group of District stakeholders. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    1. Manage initial support requests through the ticketing system.
    2. Perform multi-layered troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve issues, considering both short- and long-term impacts.
    3. Communicate efforts, impacts, and next steps to the end-user.
    4. Complete support requests within the established time frame.
  2. Manage, maintain, inspect, and repair all classroom technology as needed to ensure it aligns with the district’s vision. This includes:
    1. Mobile Devices (iPads, Chromebooks, laptops, etc.)
    2. Computers (iMac, MacMini, various Window devices)
    3. Projectors
    4. Interactive Flat Panels
    5. Apple TVs and/or Chromecasts
    6. Sound S\stems
    7. Etc.  
  3. Collaborate with the District’s instructional technology facilitators to implement and support the district’s technology plan. This includes, but is not limited to:
    1. Oversee the enrollment, retention, and removal of District assets according to district guidelines.
    2. Manage fleet updates.
  4. Configure and manage technology components to support district assessments.
  5. Communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with faculty, staff, students, and District guests.
  6. Support the District’s technology deployments. This includes, but is not limited to:
    1. Faculty & Staff devices
    2. 1:1 student devices
    3. Computer labs and common areas
    4. All classroom technology, including:
      1. Projectors / Flat Panel Displays
      2. Classroom Sound / Voice Amplification Systems
      3. Charging options
      4. Content Sharing (Apple TVs, Chromecasts, etc.)
  7. Engage with various District systems to complete Tier 1 support tasks. This includes, but is not limited to:
    1. Google Workspace / Google Apps / Google Classroom
    2. JAMF MDM / Microsoft InTune MDM
    3. Apple School Manager / Apple Classroom
    4. Seesaw
    5. Hapara
    6. Etc.
  8. Serve as the onsite technical contact for vendor representatives.

 

Secondary Responsibilities/Duties 

  1. Provide basic hardware and software training to stakeholders with diverse levels of technology experience.

 

Occupational Requirements 

  1. General Background Check.
  2. FBI fingerprint clearance required.
  3. TB test within 90 days of hire date.
  4. Physical exam within the last year of hire date.
  5. Mandatory district-wide compliance training, as assigned.
  6. Strong organizational, communication, and public relations skills.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Patient, persistent, and positive attitude.
  9. Excellent technical competencies in various areas, including writing and editing, organization, problem-solving, multi-tasking, statistical record keeping, and prioritizing.

 

Education/Vocational Preparation 

  1. College Degree or equivocal certifications required; School District experience preferred.
  2. Apple technical support experience
  3. Windows OS support experience
  4. Android OS support experience
  5. Google Workspace administration experience
  6. Printer and print server support experience
  7. Active Directory support experience
  8. Training experience

 

Physical Requirements 

  1. Moderate degree of physical stamina.
  2. Ability to move freely within various school settings.
  3. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and bending.
  4. Frequent repetitive activities involving hands, arms, and legs for clerical work.
  5. Lifting devices weighing 40-80 lbs up to waist height.
  6. Lifting a minimum of 25 lbs above head height.
  7. Carrying up to 50 lbs for a distance of at least 10 yards (30 feet).
  8. Climbing ladders 6’-10’ high to complete work tasks.
  9. Exposure to the noise and activity of a school setting.
