About the Role
We are seeking experienced HR leaders to join a fast-paced, unionized manufacturing organization. These roles play a critical part in driving workforce strategy, strengthening labor relations, and supporting a 24/7 production environment.
The HR Director will focus on strategic leadership and labor relations at a senior level, while the HR Manager will support hands-on HR operations and employee relations. Both roles partner closely with plant leadership to ensure compliance, engagement, and a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
Labor Relations & Employee Relations
- Serve as a primary liaison between management and union representatives
- Lead grievance handling, investigations, disciplinary actions, and arbitration support
- Support collective bargaining preparation and labor strategy execution
- Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements consistently and fairly
Leadership & Workforce Support
- Coach supervisors and managers on performance management, policy application, and employee relations
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture
- Lead and develop HR team members (HR Director role)
- Support change initiatives through effective communication and collaboration
Talent Management & HR Operations
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, retention, and workforce planning
- Support performance management, succession planning, and employee development programs
- Partner with operations to ensure staffing aligns with production needs
Compliance, Safety & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA, etc.)
- Maintain accurate HR records, reporting, and documentation
- Partner with EHS teams to support safety, wellness, and health initiatives
- Track and analyze HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, and engagement
Continuous Improvement
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within HR and plant operations
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and employee experience
Mandatory Qualifications
HR Director
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8 years of progressive HR experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Strong background in union labor relations and grievance management
HR Manager
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years of HR experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Hands-on experience supporting unionized workforces
For Both Roles
- Broad HR generalist knowledge (employee relations, compliance, talent management, benefits)
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
