Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the daily operations of the grocery department, including stocking, merchandising, pricing, and inventory control to maximize sales and customer satisfaction.
- Recruit, interview, train, and develop team members to ensure they meet performance standards and provide excellent customer service.
- Manage payroll, scheduling, and shift management to ensure optimal coverage during peak hours while maintaining budget targets.
- Oversee inventory management processes such as ordering, receiving, stock rotation, and shrink control to prevent shortages and overstock situations.
- Implement effective merchandising strategies to enhance product visibility and promote sales through marketing initiatives.
- Handle customer inquiries with professionalism using excellent phone etiquette and communication skills; resolve complaints promptly to ensure customer loyalty.
- Utilize POS systems for sales processing, cash handling, and financial reconciliation; maintain accurate bookkeeping records for store operations.
- Conduct regular staff meetings focused on training & development, safety protocols, and store policies to foster a motivated team environment.
- Monitor retail math metrics such as sales per square foot and gross profit margins; adjust strategies accordingly for continuous improvement.
Experience
- Proven management experience in retail sales or grocery store environments with a strong background in supervising teams.
- Demonstrated skills in inventory management, purchasing, pricing strategies, and store merchandising.
- Experience with POS systems, cash handling procedures, payroll processing, bookkeeping, and budgeting.
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent organizational skills; capable of managing multiple priorities efficiently.
- Effective communication skills in both multilingual or bilingual settings are highly desirable to serve diverse customer bases.
- Prior experience in recruiting, employee orientation, training & development is preferred to build high-performing teams.
