Primary Counselor
New England Medical Group provides integrative health care and wellness services for mental health and substance use disorders. Our holistic approach seeks to bridge the gaps in services for people seeking medical and therapeutic support. We are currently seeking an experienced Counselor with a passion for helping adolescents with mental health and working along side our team of therapeutic professionals and professionally trained K-9s at our Milford, MA location.
Position Overview: The Counselor oversees patient care for identified case load including providing primary and specialty group and individual services, coordination of treatment, referral and collateral contacts, treatment planning, case management and biopsychosocial assessment to ensure the patient enjoys a cohesive treatment experience. They will support compliance with fiscal, ethical and legal standards and the core values and mission of New England Medical Group.
Positions are available for a PHP/IOP Mental Health treatment program, Monday-Friday 830am-5pm. This is an in person position.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provides individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, as well as education and skills training.
- Ensures orientation of new clients immediately upon admission.
- Obtains history and presenting information as delineated in program policy.
- Collaboratively develops and updates an individualized treatment plan with the individual that includes targeted discharge date and plan.
- Defines all relevant community sources affecting care and treatment of the consumer (e.g. attorney, family, case manager, etc.) and develops and follows contact plans and conjoint therapy plans.
- Utilizes agency endorsed patient-centered therapeutic interventions and rapport-building practices, including motivational interviewing techniques, to non-confrontationally enhance consumer insight regarding diagnostic and usage patterns.
- Documents treatment episodes, contacts, treatment plans and sessions according to periodicity and content requirements.
- Maintains appointed continuous caseload of actively engaged individuals.
- Coordinates comprehensive discharge plan to ensure seamless community reintegration.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Psychology or related field.
- LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LADC preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in a behavioral healthcare/adolescent settings serving culturally diverse populations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to work with an Electronic Medical Record (KIPU)
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific issues and the ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into the organization.
- Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.
- Must have strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of case management within the mental health field.

Pay: $64,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
