What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Admissions Representative position at New England Tractor Tra?

This position is an integral team member at NETTTS. The Outside Admissions Representative is the first in-person impression prospective students have of NETTTS. This role is responsible for driving to appointments to meet with prospective students and their personal decision-making supporters (most of the time these are family members or close friends). The Outside Admissions Representative reviews the programs offered at NETTTS and gives out approved NETTTS documents and brochures. It is the goal of an Outside Admissions Representative to motivate the prospective student to apply to become a NETTTS student and meet with our in-house Financial Aid department as a next step in their application process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts interviews with prospective students and family members at their homes or pre-determined location near their home, for example, a local coffee shop.
  • Screens and qualifies candidates for admissions, adhering to criteria established by NETTTS for compliance and regulatory adherence, and in accordance with established goals for enrollment and retention.
  • Provides information about the school, its training programs, and cost of programs.
  • Informs prospective students they will meet with our in-house Financial Aid department at a later time for details of their financial requirements based on their individual circumstances.
  • Compiles interviewing materials and makes up packets for presentation to prospective students.
  • Fills out required forms and processes paperwork while at applicant’s homes. Reports to office by telephone after each appointment. Prepares reports on interviews/home visits.
  • Collects full tuition or initial deposit during home visit and submits it to the Campus Registrar’s office.
  • Drives to prospective student appointments scheduled by a NETTTS Inside Admissions Representative. Extensive daytime and evening driving is required for this job, along with walking up and down stairs.
  • Maintains records of interviews, enrollments, and retention.
  • May participate in job placement activities.
  • May develop leads of prospective students.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications for the Job:

  • At least three years’ experience in sales/marketing activities, in direct in-home sales, or related working experience.
  • Preferably, considerable in-home sales or admissions experience.
  • Preferably, previous work experience in the trucking industry and/or private education.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and listening skills.
  • Articulate, persuasive, and goal oriented with the ability to evaluate a candidate’s skills, qualifications, and motivation for enrollment in a NETTTS program.
  • Ability to motivate and provide on-going support to students.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and efficiently and to professionally interact with a wide variety of people.

Competencies:

  • JUDGEMENT – Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Admissions or the Campus Director and in accordance with goals, policies and criteria established by the corporate office, requiring the exercise of considerable judgment, interviewing and motivational skills in screening and qualifying candidates for enrollment. Refers unusual situations to Director of Admissions.
  • COMPLEXITY – Work involves a variety of responsibilities from initial contact with potential students and their families to successful completion of training programs, requiring knowledge of NETTTS training, potential funding/tuition payment sources, and admissions criteria.
  • IMPACT OF ERRORS – Realizes the impact of error this role can have on the company and strives to prevent errors as much as possible. Errors in judgment in following leads and in screening and qualifying candidates for enrollment may result in loss of business through inadequate presentations to prospective students and deterioration of profitability and reputation because of poor selection decisions and retention levels.
  • PERSONAL CONTACT – Work involves frequent contact points with prospective and existing students, requiring articulate presentation of ideas, diplomacy, persuasiveness, and interviewing skills.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - Work does not involve any supervisory responsibilities.

Travel: There is day-time and evening travel involved to conduct interviews with prospective students. Very occasional travel to a workshop, training, or other NETTTS campus. No overnight travel is anticipated.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires driving the employee’s personal vehicle to attend admissions interviews with prospective students. Must have reliable transportation. The ability to drive a vehicle to attend outside admissions interviews with prospective students. The ability to drive for long periods of time in the daytime and evening; extensive driving is required for this position. The ability to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs to attend in-home appointments in apartment buildings without an elevator.

Salary : $58,000 - $62,000
