- GENERAL JOB STATEMENT
The Facility Maintenance Engineer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day design, construction, and/or maintenance of specific sow farms to ensure safe, continual, and efficient operation. The Engineer is also responsible for design improvement and maintenance, as well as preventive maintenance on farm machinery and equipment, fans, controllers, feed equipment, and building grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in outlining project plans, setting project goals and deadlines, and evaluating performance and carrying out proposed engineering projects.
- Assist with design, construction, and/or installation of farm and facility equipment for increased production.
- Collaborate with production staff to project facility needs.
- Communicate with Farm Manager and Service Manager on design elements of potential projects and forecast project costs.
- Design and implement preventative maintenance programs for building and facility equipment; and train others when necessary on the programs.
- Develop and ensure accuracy of all project budgets.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and to the manager’s satisfaction.
- Improve efficiencies by staying abreast of new techniques and technology.
- Maintain an appropriate parts inventory to ensure efficient yet cost-effective repairs.
- Monitoring and maintaining appropriate ventilation systems.
- Oversee repairs and maintenance at company owned sites.
- Perform all engineering tasks related to heating, ventilation, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, locksmithing, welding, and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Perform general troubleshooting, diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust.
- Perform highly diversified duties for installation and maintenance of production and facility equipment and machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Regular analysis/monitoring of equipment design and functionality for purpose of improving farm productivity.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools.
- Work with production staff on remodel needs.
- Work with subcontractors when necessary and maintain good working relationships.
