The Human Resources department is a team of 12 dedicated professionals who work to serve the citizens of New Hanover County and support over 1,850 employees in the areas of training and development, recruitment and retention, employee relations, benefit administration, employee wellness, records management, and classification and compensation.

Compensation:

- Coordination and presentation of biweekly new hire orientation.
- Creating and updating training courses and participant enrollment/completion status in various software, running reports and communicating with departments on training status.
- Researching and developing training curriculum, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Facilitating county training programs.
- Coordinating the county’s recognition and customer service programs to include creating and updating reports, managing inventory of program supplies, and distributing awards and certifications to employees.
- Coordinating the county's mentorship program.
- Creating recruitment media campaigns and maintaining the department's digital media presence to showcase the County as an employer of choice.
- Monitoring and updating the department's internal and external websites as needed.
- Providing back up support to the department's reception area.

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field and one (1) year of human resources experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with diverse groups of people, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, and is able to demonstrate proficiency in learning new software programs quickly.
Prior work experience in the areas of training and development is preferred.None required. Hours:8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work during emergency situations.
