Process Engineer Co-Op

SUMMARY:  The Process Engineer Intern assists with optimizing manufacturing systems and processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support projects in assigned area to help reduce costs and improve absolute efficiency.
• Work with operations team to facilitate improvements in production rates, efficiencies, yields, and costs.
• Lead development, training, and start-up of new projects.
• Coordinate area continuous improvement efforts (i.e. 90-day teams).
• Support shutdown planning and activities.
• Monitor and report on daily quality parameters.
• Coordinate and lead customer trial efforts.
• Coordinate and assist chemical vendor trials.
• Champion the area IT-based systems (i.e. PI, Proficy, Cognex, PacSim).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• None.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum freshman in chemical engineering or a related discipline with some work experience in a process industry.
• Good analytical and project management skills.
• Good communication skills, including verbal, written & presentation.
• Good relationship and leadership skills, including ability to convey technical information to non-technical users clearly and concisely.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think “outside the box”.

• Proficient use of standard engineering software and analysis tools.
• Highly organized, good attention to detail and uses efficient work methods.
• Ability to travel to US locations (travel <10%)
