Financial Controller

We are searching for a Financial Controller for our Charleston, SC HQ. You will eventually hire a staff accountant and will report directly to the CFO and executive leadership, working with them side by side as their Financial Strategic Business Partner overseeing all the corporate Finance and Accounting functions for the company. You must be "a hands-on, roll up your sleeves, no task is too small" type of Leader. Tech Savvy. Must be hungry, eager to grow with a booming business.

We prefer Financial Controllers experienced in one of the following: construction, development, building materials, manufacturing, anything touching construction.

Qualifications For The Financial Controller

• Any type of construction, development or manufacturing experience is a plus but not a deal beaker
• Someone that is not afraid to push back on leadership and help make adjustments so new construction projects are financially feasible, and then explain it all to leadership while helping them strategize.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; with demonstrated ability to make recommendations and implement changes
• Strong multitasking, planning, prioritizing, and executing skills
• The Controller should be a self-starter with the ability to proactively identify process improvement opportunities
• Experience in hiring, developing, and mentoring staff is a plus.
• The CPA designation and/or a master's degree are a plus BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER, Experience trumps all
  
  

Duties For The Financial Controller

• Responsible for being hands-on with the day-to-day financials, closing the books, as well as implementing standard accounting policies and procedures
• Review financial results and work with leadership to generate strategic initiatives to increase efficiency and improve profitability. Support the use of KPIs and dashboards to facilitate management decisions
• Partner with the CFO to develop financial modeling to support growth strategies and enhance margin performance
• Support the formal annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes. Review monthly forecasts for feasibility and reasonability. Partner with the leadership team to generate the consolidated budget and forecast
• Support the preparation of quarterly financial analysis to be presented to leadership
• Review accounting records to ensure accuracy in accordance with US GAAP. Ensure consistent implementation of effective internal controls across all accounting departments
• Review month-end reconciliations and account-closing processes
