What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Teacher's Assistant position at New Wonders Discovery Center?
Thank you for your interest in joining our team at New Wonders! We are a Christian and family owned childcare center and preschool in Kalamazoo. Over the last decade, we have worked hard to create a staff consisting of people who are reliable, communicate, enjoy each other's company, and are willing to work as a team to provide a place where children can learn and grow in a safe, loving atmosphere. We use the best of the early learning approaches to create an environment that promotes curiosity, wonder, respect and appreciation for nature and community.
We are looking for people to join our team who not only love children, but have a love of learning themselves. We hope to find someone who is creative, encouraging, and excited to help us as we enter a season of growth and change. We are excited to hear from you!
We are open daily, Monday- Friday, from 630am to 6pm.
Part time and full time positions are available. Those with open availability or able to work a full morning or afternoon shift are preferred. Reliable transportation is a must.

1. An eagerness to use creativity to assist the Lead Teachers in expanding the daily curriculum
2. Knowledge of young children to implement developmentally appropriate practices throughout the day
3. Understand the importance of following State of Michigan licensing rules
4. Can work well with others in a team-like environment... supporting, encouraging, and teaching each other new ideas that expand learning experiences for our children
5. Will present themselves in a professional manner and reflect the Philosophy and Mission of our Center to families and the surrounding community
6. Possess personal standards that include honesty, dependability, excellent work ethic, and moral values (we hold to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct)
Qualifications for a Teacher’s Assistant include but are not limited to:
*Must pass all state mandated background checks
*Highschool Diploma or GED
*Experience working with young children
*CPR/ First Aid/ Bloodborne Pathogen Trained
*Flexible availability
*Reliable transportation
*Current TB test results
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $10.50 - $12.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
All parents and staff are required to wear masks while at the center. Staff and children are temperature checked every morning and throughout the day as needed. Anyone with Covid symptoms are required to stay home until cleared by a test or physician.
