New York Tech Office of Enrollment and Financial Aid, seeks an Assistant Director for the NYC campus. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will provide financial aid counseling and superior customer service to our students and their families in all aspects related to higher education financial aid. This includes explanation of aid options and resources available to them. The Assistant Director assists in and is responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
Responsibilities
- Assist students and their families in securing financial aid for higher education costs. This includes communication regarding eligibility for awards and obligations of receiving financial aid.
- Serve as the front-line counselor to current and prospective students and families and is responsible for answering inquiries virtually, via phone, email, and in person, and works to resolve issues in a timely and courteous manner.
- Assist in determining eligibility for financial assistance and calculating the type and amount of aid awarded by analyzing and evaluating financial information. This includes:
- Review and completion of federal verification
- Review and resolution of federal comment codes
- Review and resolution of Over Awards and Budget Adjustments
- Performing Professional Judgment for students with special circumstances
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest federal and state regulations, and adhere to financial aid compliance requirements with regards to financial aid processing.
- Participate on specific assigned committees and in recruitment and retention activities.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
The Financial Aid office has locations on both Long Island (Old Westbury) and New York City campuses. This position is generally based in our New York City office with opportunities for remote work (in line with New York Tech policy). Some intercampus travel is required. The position will require occasional weekend and/or evening hours.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
One to three years relevant experience in financial aid, enrollment services or other higher education administration.
Excellent communications skills, public speaking, ability to represent the institution, and conduct presentations.
Computer skills and experience with student information systems (i.e. Peoplesoft, Slate, Datatel) is preferred.
