Job Description
Stamford Health is looking for a Full Time (37.50hrs.) Plant Operations Mechanic.
Operates and maintains mechanical equipment such as high-pressure boilers, compressors, pumps, HVAC related equipment, Medical Gas systems, and other equipment related to the correct and safe provision of heating, cooling and ventilation of the hospital complex. Must have proven knowledge in plumbing, HVAC, building controls and systems, boiler and chiller operations as well as excellent troubleshooting skills.
Required Licenses and Certifications include CT Backflow Prevention, Universal Refrigeration License, CT Heating, Piping & Cooling Operating Engineer License (OE2), or CT Heating, Piping, Cooling License (S2 or S1) or the ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists in operating, maintaining and repairing all equipment that supplies the hospital complex with, water, heating, ventilation and air conditioning,
2. Responds to routine and emergent service calls as they relate to MEP systems, HVAC and building controls systems, and boiler and heating systems. Trouble shoots leaks and breakdowns.
3. Operates and maintains equipment such as air compressors, boilers, chillers, generators, pumping systems, medical air/vacuum systems, reheat systems.
4. Cleans, lubricates, calibrates and adjusts all equipment according to preventive maintenance schedules.
5. Performs testing of water samples. Adds water treatment to boilers, heating and cooling water systems.
6. Perform as required emergency generator tests and logs all results.
7. Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, ACM and other hazardous substances.
8. Fills out daily log sheets and daily round sheets. Submits this paperwork to the appropriate supervisor.
9. Assists the facilities management team in the planning and implementation of new programs and processes.
10. Routinely requests supplies needed to fulfill daily responsibilities.
12. Works with building management software to control equipment and monitor systems.
13. Responds to medical equipment calls as needed.
14. Must be able to perform preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment to the manufacturers recommended specifications.
