What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabricator/Welder position at Newberg Steel & Fabrication?
We are looking to hire an experienced D1.1 FCAW certified structural welder to support our field and shop operations. Certifications can be obtained through Newberg Steel & Fabrication, Inc. as required if applicant does not have one available at time of hire. Employees enjoy flexible and consistent work assignments.
Primary work schedule: Monday-Thursday 6:00 am - 4:30pm with 30 minute lunch. Hours may vary by season. Seasonal overtime
Work environment:
- Brand new shop 2019 with large working areas, small team and family business environment. Looking for a true team member.
Types of Certified Welding Experience:
1. Welding Types: Stick, MIG.
2. Welding Positions: All position welding flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead positions (4G)
3. Materials: Structural steel, carbon steel profiles, beams, columns, frames etc..
4. Certification(s): AWS,
We are looking for somebody with the following:
- Perform wide range welding processes to perform structural welds in steel framing, structural joints and connections
- Review layouts, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, welding procedures or oral instructions in preparation for welding or cutting metal components
- Measure and align metal parts
- Operate power equipment, boom lifts, bridge cranes, telehandler reach forklifts, warehouse forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
- Operate power and hand-held welding tools safely and responsibly
- Cut, form, tack weld and measure parts for correct fit
- Use oxy-acet. torch, plasma burn, grind and/or air arc metal as required
- Able and willing to perform other types of mechanical job duties that are necessary to support the team and complete the project
Employees must:
- Be flexible- open to work overtime and weekends if necessary
- Self- motivated , hard-working, and be able to work independently
- Be extremely safety conscious and wear safety protection equipment (PPE)
- Able to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Possess the ability to identify process issues and offer solutions
- Communicate verbally and in writing as required
- Must be team focused
