The primary role of the School Psychologist is to apply the fundamental concepts of learning to address students' school-related challenges to facilitate academic progress and social-emotional development. The school psychologist conducts comprehensive psychological assessments using standardized evaluations, including academic, cognitive, and social-emotional assessments. The school psychologist collaborates with teachers, other school staff, and guardians on ways to best support students and the learning environment. The school psychologist also participates in building-level MTSS meetings and advises the team on appropriate interventions. It is also the school psychologist's role to assist in conducting behavioral threat screenings for students and counseling services per the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) standard.
