MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As a member of the Finance team, you will lead by example by being patient, kind, humble, respectful, selfless, forgiving, honest and committed when interacting with one another, other aquarium team members, and guests
- Shares the duties of daily cash room handling and balancing with the Cash Room Specialist (CRS), and supervises all cash room activities. Coordinates the cash room coverage with the CRS to ensure every day of the week and year are covered. Part of your time will be spent working in the cash room with the rest working on other accounting functions
- Notifies the Sales Auditor of any discrepancies in the cash room balancing as soon as they are discovered
- Prepares the bank deposit and change orders and coordinates with Dunbar for pickup and delivery of cash
- Ensures the vault and cash machine have an adequate supply of cash on hand
- Assists cashiers with the Glory cash machine questions and issues, and work with the Glory support vendor if needed
- Works with the Senior Staff Accountant and the Sales Team on accounts receivable duties, including payment processing and collections efforts
- Responsible for handling sensitive customer credit card information in compliance with data security procedures and PCI standards. Will perform the required annual PCI training when requested
- Performs accounts payable functions as required
- Scans company credit card receipts, invoices, authorized signature forms, and performs related functions and research as needed
- Maintains and updates files for invoices, COI's, W-9s, customer payments, purchase orders, and others as needed for accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Complies with safety and security directives, policies, and procedures
- Assists with audit requests when needed
- Maintains Authorized Signature Forms and related log
- Performs other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prefer an Associate Degree and/or a minimum of 1-3 years accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Must have some knowledge of general accounting procedures, including accounts payable, purchase orders and receiving procedures
- Excellent money-handling experience and mathematical skills
- Prefer a working knowledge of Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance
- Must have good PC skills and be familiar with Excel Spreadsheets
- Must have the ability to operate a 10-key calculator
- Excellent administrative, organizational, and record-keeping skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be detailed oriented
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with internal control policies and procedures
- Must have the ability to work with team members throughout the organization and be a team player with a positive attitude
- Must be a hard worker and a quick learner
- Must be willing to learn new duties, be cross-trained, and be willing to take on new tasks as needed
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful completion of pre-employment credit check, and background check
- Ability to work in a small, confined area
- Ability to sit for long periods of time, climb stairs, bend, sit, stoop and reach
- Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Note: Position will involve exposure to dust, potentially dangerous and unpredictable animal species, and potential dangerous machinery, restraint devices and toxic chemicals and/or drugs. Occasional use of protective clothing or equipment is required e.g. goggles, mask, gloves, and gowns.
