Public Health Grant Coordinator Position Openings

Opiate Misuse Prevention or Youth Cannabis and Alcohol Use Prevention

Strategic Prevention Partnerships offers two full-time (40 hour/week) positions; Compensation includes health and dental benefits. Connection and commitment to Newport County is essential. Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus!

The SPP Grant Coordinators will implement prevention strategies targeting youth and families across Newport County (Portsmouth, Middletown, Little Compton, Tiverton and Newport, RI). The Grant Coordinators will deliver evidence-based prevention programs requiring an active, dynamic approach to community prevention.

General Requirements

· Demonstrate reliable attendance; willingness to work occasional evenings and weekend events;

· Bachelor’s Degree in human services (broadly defined); Public health experience is a plus;

· Demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to make effective public presentations;

· Ability to lift and carry supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds;

· Proficient computer skills, including social media required;

· Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills;

· Ability to create and maintain community partnerships;

· Must submit pre-employment background check as condition of employment;

· Must have ability to travel throughout Newport County providing own transportation;

· Working knowledge of and experience implementing prevention strategies; experience with coalition building, collaboration, and public awareness activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Coordinate grant tasks throughout Newport County: including presentations to community groups and college students;

· Ensure timely completion of program deliverables as outlined in annual plan;

· Assist in data collection to assess community needs and resources relative to opiate misuse; write related reports;

· Engage members of local colleges, police departments, and workplaces in identified strategies;

Starting salary $52,000-$56,160 depending on certification and experience; with health/dental benefits, paid vacation and holidays, telephone stipend. 401K and mileage reimbursement.
