A well-established, mid-sized civil litigation defense firm with a national footprint is seeking an experienced Mid-Level Litigation Attorney to join its Hartford office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience handling complex civil litigation matters, preferably in insurance defense.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated litigator to manage a diverse docket of civil defense cases, including but not limited to general liability, construction defect, personal injury, employment discrimination, and commercial transportation litigation. The attorney will be responsible for cases from initial investigation through trial and/or appeal, with strong support from experienced colleagues across the firm’s multiple offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently handle all phases of litigation, including depositions, discovery, motion practice, court appearances, and trials.
- Draft a wide range of legal documents including pleadings, dispositive motions, and appellate briefs.
- Provide strategic advice to clients and manage expectations throughout the litigation process.
- Represent clients in state and federal courts, as well as alternative dispute resolution forums.
- Collaborate with senior partners and clients on case assessments and litigation strategies.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Connecticut is required.
- Admission in Massachusetts or UBE eligibility is a strong plus.
- At least 5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in defense of insureds, employers, or corporations.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex cases from start to finish.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, legal research proficiency, and courtroom presence.
