KVIA-TV (a family-owned station in El Paso/Las Cruces) is looking for a news producer that is a strong news writer with solid news judgment, keeps up with current events, consumes news and has solid journalistic values. Duties include creating, organizing, writing, and assembling newscasts and assisting with website and social/digital platforms. You’ll be expected to function within the framework of a research-driven news department that emphasizes our First Alert and breaking news brand, enterprise storytelling and investigative journalism. Employee must have the flexibility to work across multiple platforms – shooting and editing experience is a plus.
Qualifications:
The right candidate will be a strong writer, have good organizational skills and good news judgment. Candidate will have an eye for video, graphics and the elements that help showcase stories and newscasts. The candidate must work well under pressure, work well with other people, and meet strict deadlines. A college degree in journalism, communication or a related field is preferred. Previous newsroom experience is a plus. The job is contingent on successful completion of a background check and drug test.
