Job Title: Removable Technician – Finisher
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Removable Technician – Finisher to join our dental laboratory team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the final stages of processing removable dental appliances such as dentures, partials, and other acrylic-based prosthetics. This role is essential in ensuring that each product meets the highest quality standards in function, comfort, and esthetics before delivery to clinicians and patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Finishing & Polishing:
- Trim, contour, and polish removable appliances (full and partial dentures, flippers, nightguards, etc.) to specification.
- Ensure all appliances are smooth, stain-free, and meet required esthetic and functional standards.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect appliances for defects, sharp edges, porosity, and material inconsistencies.
- Confirm accuracy of occlusion and anatomical contours.
- Verify prescription details and document completion accurately.
- Material Handling:
- Work with acrylics, silicones, and thermoplastics safely and efficiently.
- Operate finishing equipment such as lathes, handpieces, polishers, and steam cleaners.
- Collaboration:
- Communicate with team members in setup, processing, and QC to resolve issues and improve product quality.
- Assist in training junior technicians or trainees when needed.
- Maintenance & Compliance:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all lab safety guidelines and infection control procedures.
- Keep equipment in proper working condition and report malfunctions.
Qualifications
Required:
- 2 years of experience in a dental lab, specifically with removable appliances.
- Demonstrated proficiency in trimming and polishing denture bases and partial frameworks.
- Strong understanding of dental anatomy and removable prosthodontics.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- CDT certification in Removables (or working toward certification).
- Experience with injection-molded partials, flexible materials, or digital workflows (e.g., 3D printed dentures).
