The Surgery Department at Newton-Wellesley Hospital provides our communities with surgical solutions for diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions. Our surgeons are board-certified in their areas of expertise, and our facilities are equipped in the latest surgical technology, including minimally invasive instruments for minimizing procedure and recovery times.
The Surgical Technologist is an important member of the Surgery team responsible for providing intraoperative care to the surgical patient, and functions under the direct supervision of the RN. Responsibilities include, but, not limited to:
*Preparing for cases according to the surgeon's preferences and needs of the patient;
*Passing instruments to the surgeon at the surgical field;
*Caring for instruments at the end of the surgical procedure, ensuring accuracy of counts;
*Assisting in maintaining privacy and confidentiality of the patient;
*Maintaining safety of the patient; and
*Applying the principles of asepsis at all times in order to maintain the integrity of the sterile field.
This position may be required to rotate to other Surgical Services Departments.
Education
*Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program required.
Experience
*Previous OR experience preferred.
License and Registration
*Surgical Technologist certification required.
