Lead Pharmacist (Full-time) Specialty Pharmacy
- Assists Pharmacist-In-Charge with day-to-day operations and oversight of pharmacy staff.
- Ensures team members provide excellent service to patients and staff.
- Ensures adherence to standard operating procedures and compliance with state law, federal law, and regulatory agencies (including, but not limited to URAC, ACHC, JACHO) including procedures for billing, storing, and dispensing prescriptions, maintaining records, documentation/compliance, audits, and licensure.
- Responsible for hiring, onboarding, training, developing, and oversight of staff members.
- Ensures pharmacy is adequately staffed, including maintaining schedules and covering absence.
- Generates reports and monitors key performance indicators. Uses them to guide best business practices.
- Develops quality improvement projects and ensures follow through on the projects.
- Ensures adverse events/incident reports are reported appropriately and follows through on next steps and completion.
- Maintains the pharmacy’s bank, including electronic register readings, cash withdrawals, cash accounts, daily cash reports, cash over and short records, and other reports related to cash management.
- Participates in training, orientation, and competency activities of other staff.
- Effectively communicates all hospital and department policies, procedures, initiatives, and updates to the pharmacy team.
- Serves as an expert resource for pharmacy staff and exhibits extensive knowledge of duties all staff members and expectations.
- Performs pharmacist duties as assigned and necessary.
- Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or PharmD
- Degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy
- Currently licensed and registered, or eligible for licensure and registration as a Pharmacist by the State of New York
- If not licensed at the time of hire, must obtain license within three months of employment or may be subject to dismissal.
- The lead pharmacist may be requested to represent the Department on various projects for the Hospital
- Ability to use software programs for word processing and data management
