The Role
NextCare Urgent Care is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Fredericksburg, VA clinic.
In this role, you will treat a diverse patient population, manage a wide range of urgent care conditions, and practice with a high degree of independence while supported by physician oversight, standardized clinical protocols, and a collaborative care team.
What You’ll Do
The clinic operates Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM–8:00 PM, Saturday–Sunday from 8:00 AM–4:00 PM.
Providers work 12-hour shifts within these operating hours. Weekend and holiday rotation applies.

What You’ll Do
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat urgent care patients across the lifespan
- Manage common urgent care presentations, including acute illness, injuries, and minor procedures
- Perform and interpret basic diagnostics, including X-ray, EKG, and laboratory testing
- Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions clearly and effectively
- Document care accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record
- Maintain clinical productivity consistent with urgent care standards
- Deliver care in alignment with NextCare’s clinical, ethical, and quality expectations

What We’re Looking For
- Active, unrestricted Virginia license
- NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant or ANCC/AANP-certified Nurse Practitioner
- Family practice scope with comfort treating patients from pediatrics through geriatrics
- Active DEA registration
- BLS certification
- Comfort practicing independently in an urgent care setting
- Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
- DOT certification preferred or willingness to obtain (training provided at no cost)
- Prior experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track ER settings
- Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care
- Experience with initial X-ray interpretation
