The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes, procedures, problems, resources, staff areas and people so that they become aware of the career opportunities at Nexteer Automotive. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain 5S in the cells and office
- Input requisitions in a timely manner.
- Work with expediters to determine status of Purchase Orders, assisting as required.
- Expedite parts from the plants as required to meet program timing.
- Review and distribute inventory summaries for obsolete stock.
- Make prints / copies / scans as required.
- Carefully label and package fragile components for supermarket storage.
- Sort stock for various issues
- Count, check, and repackage incoming material as directed
Special Skills Requirements:
- Attention to detail
- Like working in a team environment
- Must be flexible since they will be asked to do a wide variety of tasks
- Proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to read prints would be a plus but not required
Job Requirements:
- Studying business or engineering at SVSU, Northwood, U of M Flint or Delta College
- Supply chain management would be a strong degree for this job
- Must be a full time student (12 credit hours or more)
- Must have a 2.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Must have the ability to work 20-28 hours per week during the Fall and Winter semester
