Designs and develops testing methods and procedures for software and/or mainframe applications. Participates in the creation of testing procedures to be employed within Company developed software applications and/or mainframe technologies. Communicates with product-specific technology administrators in creation of testing plans. Identifies Company personnel for product testing and coordinates the overall testing efforts. Communicates with department and unit managers to allocate appropriate testing resources for application testing needs. Trains testing personnel on methods and procedures necessary to test individual software and/or mainframe applications. Makes resource recommendations to management regarding software application and/or mainframe testing requirements. Required Knowledge: Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent 2-3 years related work experience including business processes Insurance coverages and rating schemes and insurance products Personal computer and related spreadsheet and data manipulation software Knowledge of technology testing methods and procedures Preferred Knowledge: Principles of finance, business, statistics, and insurance Knowledge of property casualty rating and policy coverages and endorsements Insurance industry and marketing techniques Company, Agency, and department practices and procedures Directs and/or participates in the testing of new computer applications, updates to existing applications and software enhancements. Works with software development staff to ensure that the technology products are straightforward and easy to use. Monitors and records errors found through the testing process, communicates with the software development staff and oversees the testing of the software products as necessary to fix the outstanding issues. Provides specialized technical knowledge for the creation and implementation of various software and mainframe applications. Works with Company operations and software development teams to understand how automation can help the business process development. Participates in automation design teams to design, create, test and implement various automation projects. Designs, builds and instructs others in the building of test case scenarios for usage in the testing process and regression testing mechanisms. Monitors the regression testing, identifies issues and participates on recommendations regarding whether to abort a software upgrade or “go live” event. Directs others on training and/or trains individuals in other areas of the Company on testing processes when additional testing resource or specialized testing resource is required. Coordinates testing of software applications requiring testing resources across various Company units. Updates progress reports for management. Trains Agents, Company personnel and other end users on usage of various Company and Vendor software applications. Conducts initial formal training explaining the details of each technology application as the software product is made available to them. May travel to agencies and remote Company offices to learn more about how the software applications are performing and troubleshoot various issues. Serves on technology teams for external vendor technology products such as Imaging, Duck Creek, E-Signature, Cancellation Rules, VIN, etc. Participates on the vendor technology teams to create test plans, coordinate and/or test the software applications, and assist with the overall implementation of new products into the technology environment. Works directly with Agents and Company personnel to provide technical support and to understand how our rating, issuance, billing, information service and other software products impact Agency and Company operations and how they can be designed or modified to work more effectively. This includes, but is not limited to, the installation and level one troubleshooting of Company software applications. Oversees the creation of and writes tutorials and user manuals for Company software and/or mainframe applications. Monitors the updating of manuals and tutorials as required for changes to software products.
