Job Description
Position Title: Drama Season Productions Assistant Director
Reports To: Theatre Director
Position Statement: Position could be filled by various production assistants with a variety of
duties/responsibilities based on the needs of the specific Play in the Drama Season.
Responsibilities may include those of any one or combination of the following positions:
Designer, Technical Director, Music Director, Assistant Director, Choreographer, Front of
House/Promotions, Accompanist, Production Manager, Director, Producer, Playwright, Fight
Director, Hair/Wig Designer, Shop Manager, or others as needed.
Essential Functions:
* Fulfills key artistic and/or technical function of assigned production role (see
above);
* Works within budget limitations;
* Meets deadlines;
* Manages production personnel when appropriate;
* Supervises/manages rehearsals and/or crew session;
* Coordinates fellow staff;
* Supervises students;
* Supervises rehearsal/performance space;
* Completes production-related tasks as needed.
Skills: BA/BFA in Theatre or commensurate experience. Artistic and Technical skills as
necessitated by production position. Strong leadership; time management skills; respect and
understanding of artistic process. Well organized and skilled with deadlines, management,
communication. Compatible with youth.
Calendar: Portion of Drama Season Production Calendar (approximately 6.5 weeks)
Hours Per Week: Approximately 20 hours per week
Building: North and West
Performance Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with
provisions of the District evaluation procedures.
