Ninyo & Moore Geotechnical & Environmental Sciences Consultants is seeking a Graduate/Senior Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in our new office in Austin, Texas. The ideal candidate will support geotechnical investigations, analysis, and reporting for a range of infrastructure and development projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct geotechnical field investigations and engineering analyses
- Develop boring layouts and coordinate utility clearance
- Supervise drill rigs and field staff
- Classify soils; log borings, test pits, and cores
- Perform floor level surveys and geotechnical testing/observation services
- Review project plans and technical specifications
- Prepare geotechnical reports, letters, and technical documentation
- Coordinate laboratory testing programs
- Perform geotechnical engineering calculations, including:
- Slope stability analysis
- Liquefaction assessment
- Dynamic settlement analysis
- Pile foundation design
Qualifications
- B.S./B.A. in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering required
- M.S. in related field preferred
- E.I.T. and ability to take and pass PE within 6 months
- Minimum 3 years geotechnical engineering experience (consulting preferred)
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organization, problem-solving, and time-management abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
