Scope of Eligibility: Open to applicants who meet the requirements below.
Description: Under the direction of a supervisor in a State department or agency, as a trainee and productive worker, receives on the job training in analytic practices/procedures and application and research and preparation of reports, completes assignments which will provide practical analyst experience and/or learns to review and analyze financial reports; does other related work.
Specific to the Position: Under direct supervision, the appointee will assist in the implementation of the
Department’s non-lethal bear management strategy through coordinated efforts with counties and municipalities to educate the public and implement solid waste management and collection policies to deter bears. Tasks will include drafting correspondence and recommendations working with county government through their solid waste planning efforts and grants. Additional job responsibilities will include assessment of current operations and industry trends; comparative analysis of programs in other states and countries; research and development into national and international programs addressing emerging and innovative issues in solid waste and recycling; development of new reduce, reuse, recycle models, zero-waste initiatives, circular economy, and other sustainability concepts; administration of an external advisory group and engagement with other stakeholders; development of workplans and schedules with specific recommendations for legislative, regulatory and policy development; development of a statewide Solid Waste Management Plan; administration of the grants program with state institutions of higher education to provide objective and informed recommendations, proactively envision future opportunities for change, and to develop strategies for achieving same.
Requirements
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.

License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
Residency: All persons newly hired on or after September 1, 2011 have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey subject to the provisions of N.J.S.A.
52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act".
